Although I’m a jack-of-all-trades, essentially, professionally I’m a graphic designer with about fourteen years of experience in the field. Geographically I’m based in Bellingham, Washington, but I have a robust home-office setup for remote connectivity and off-site production which allows me to work nearly anywhere. For the past twelve years I’ve been working for Jones & Jones Architects and Landscape Architects, Ltd, in Seattle (full-time for ten years and now as a consultant/contractor based in Bellingham), but my design work there has been constrained somewhat by a bland house style and the pre-design work often done by coworkers; thus many of the selections here represent my technical prowess more than my design skill.

I’ve put together this gallery in six sections to show some of the range of design and production I have done at Jones & Jones and for other companies and individuals in the past ten years. This is by no means all my graphic design work, nor does it reflect the other kinds of work I’ve done (such as database management & manipulation, project coordination, writing, and my theatre lighting experience), but it’s a pretty good array of some of my hard-copy and Internet products—only a cross-section of the work I’ve done over the past fifteen years in the field of layout and design, chosen either for their aesthetic appeal or for some noteworthy aspect such as circumstances or technical details, addressed in my design notes for each on the following pages.

  • BIG: Posters, Panels, and Boards

  • LONG: Reports, Proposals, and Large-Format Layout

  • SMALL: Fliers, Brochures, and Newsletters

  • ONLINE: Internet-based Features

  • DESIGN: Project Design and Logos

  • ABSTRACT: Abstract Illustration

Most of the thumbnails throughout the gallery can be clicked to view their source, although most of the websites were for temporary use only and therefore are no longer online.

For professional correspondence, I use the address illico@markelliswalker.net. “Illico” is the French form of a Latin word meaning essentially “right away” or “pronto,” and as virtually anyone who’s worked with me knows that’s exactly the level of response and turnaround you get from me on a project.
