The first version on this CD single is the mix that was used for the song’s video; I’m ambivalent about which I prefer, as they’re both good. “Step By Step,” however, sounds like someone else’s song…as it became when Annie offered it to Whitney Houston to record, evidently having heard that it just wasn’t right for her own voice and style despite the fact that she wrote it.
